How Much Money do Americans Spend on Anti-Aging Products Each Year?
Consumer Reviews
Before spending hard earned money on expensive wrinkle creams that promise to make you look years younger, check out the Consumer Reports results of a twelve week study on a variety of wrinkle creams.
Studies were performed during this twelve week period on this group of around twenty women between the ages of thirty to age seventy. The women all had light complexions, one trait that is more prone to developing fine lines and wrinkles than those with darker complexions.
Control studies done on the women tested during the twelve week period showed some surprising results. Find out if the anti wrinkle cream you may be using is worth the money you are paying for it.
Research Studies
All of the women in the study were given a placebo moisturizer to use on one side of their face. For the other side they were given a top rated wrinkle reducing product. None of the women knew which was the control product and which was the placebo. The women were instructed to use both products twice a day.
Each woman's skin was thoroughly examined Before and after the twelve week testing period, thorough examinations were done of each of the women's faces with some very high tech gadgets to help measure any possible changes in the skin texture and look. A corneometer, which measures the skin's moisture content, was one of the tools used for the skin roughness test.
Once all of the testing was completed, Consumer Reports published the results of their findings. No connection between cost and effectiveness of the wrinkle creams was found with the products that were tested. Americans spend over a billion dollars a year on anti-aging products, yet much money is wasted on expensive products that have little or no effect on aging skin.
Before You Spend Your Hard Earned Money....
Some top rated products actually found to only reduced wrinkle depth by a mere 10%. In everyday terms this means that the actual change in wrinkle reduction is almost invisible to the naked eye. Products ranged in price from $20-$300, yet there was no connection found between cost and effectiveness.
Some brands of wrinkle reducers did better than others, yet the results were still disappointing and minimal. La Prairie Cellular with a price tag of $335, was one of the least effective products tested.Olay Regenerist was one of the top rated products tested, and comes at an affordable price. Even though the use of anti-aging creams is probably a waste of money, at least the top choice is one that is reasonably priced for consumers.
