Choosing the Right Eyeglasses for Your Facial Shape
By scarlton
Facial Shapes
Wearing glasses that aren't complimentary to facial shape and features is unflattering. No matter if new to wearing glasses, or they have been worn forever, the frame should blend with facial features and skin tones. The proper size, color, and shape are important for looking good in glasses.
Different facial shapes are better suited to different types of frames. Oval faces are better proportioned with frames that are as wide or a wider than the widest part of the face. This helps enhance the naturally beautiful proportions of the oval facial features. Walnut shaped frames also compliment someone with an oval shaped face.
Round Shaped Faces
For square or round shaped faces, wide but narrow eyeglasses are usually the better choice. Narrow rectangles work well on a round faces and narrow ovals are more suited to the person with a square shaped face.
Frames that are too large or round give the person with a round or square shaped face a look of being out of proportion. Rectangle frames can also give the person with a round face a slimmer look.
Diamond Shaped Faces
A diamond shaped face is a unique and beautiful feature that is uncommon. Rimless eyewear frames and frames with a distinct brow line are both good frames for this facial shape. A person with a diamond shaped face can get away with even wearing glasses that are cat eye shaped.
A frame that contrasts with the temples for a balanced look is the type needed for a wide or oblong face. One key thing to remember when shopping for eyewear, keep in mind that it should contrast with the shape of the face, remembering this key point can make it easier when shopping for new eyeglasses.
Color Choices
Color is another thing to consider when choosing frames. People with warm skin tones usually blend well with shades like gold, peach, cream, copper, camel, and coral. Cooler skin tones do well with shades such as plum, pink, blue, black, and gray. These colors compliment their skin tone the best.
When glasses must be worn most or all of the time, they need to look good on the person wearing them. Try on as many varieties as possible that may compliment face shape before deciding, glasses are something that can be worn for many years if the prescription remains the same. Frames can last even longer.
