Country Music

Country music speaks to many listeners through the heart. Songs about real life, along with the ups and downs everyone faces at some point or another. Just as individuals can relate to quotes that they feel are a description of themselves, people do the same with their music.

People often relate songs to a person, particular event, or just a happy time in their lives. They can relay personal thoughts and feelings about people and places, after all can't you think of at least one song that describes a relationship in your life? Do you and your significant other have a particular song that is Your Song ?

Many country music songwriters, as well as other genres of musicians, write the lyrics and sometimes the music for their songs. It's no wonder with that kind of talent why so many of them may have a few wise quotes about life....

80s Generation, Listen Up....

Is it just me, or does anyone else past the age of forty frequently find themselves reflecting back to the days of high school and their teenage years? Whether it's some sort of midlife crisis, or new "phase" in life, I find myself quoting the phrases passed from generation to generation. Especially when referring to those prized years between childhood and adulthood, the teenage years.

Athletes remember the excitement you felt playing football? Girls, remember wearing your boyfriend's letter jacket, football jersey, or class ring...cheering him on from the stands? Maybe you were one of the cheerleaders, yelling from the sidelines. Either way, remember that feeling you had about life in general?

Think back to your senior year. You had much of the freedom that comes with being an adult, yet still had your safety net at home. After all, they still had to give you shelter and feed you for at least the first eighteen years of your life.

Quotes are a source of inspiration, just as music, advice, and many other words of wisdom can be as well. Quotes and music can have meanings that are familiar, something to relate to, sometimes in a surprisingly eye opening sort of way.

Kenny Chesney: The Boys of Fall

Quotes are a source of inspiration, just as music, advice, and many other words of wisdom can be as well. Quotes and music can have meaning that are familiar, something to relate to, sometimes in a surprisingly eye opening sort of way.

One inspiring video that has spread across the country is Kenny Chesney's, The Boys of Fall video. Any former high school athlete can relate to the talks from coaches before, during, and after any game or event.

I am a true Packer fan, and a fan of the remarkable Vince Lombardi. I have been very active in sports my entire life (now mostly from the couch), but I must admit that the speech at the beginning of the video is one of the most inspiring that I can recall being given by any coach, from any sport.

New Orleans Saints head coach, Sean Payton's pre-game speech to his high school alma mater, Naperville Central in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

"Twenty-seven years ago.. I sat in this locker room, just like you guys on a knee getting ready to play a game....I walk down the locker room, it still smells the same.....It takes you back real quick, one of the things that caught me was how fast twenty-seven years goes by...."

"There're so many people that live vicariously through you....I would give anything tonight...to jump in one of these uniforms with you guys...."

"That feeling goes away........ it goes away, and it doesn't come every friday night.....it comes when you get married....it comes when your child's born....so you get it, but you just don't get it every friday night.......you're gonna miss that more than anything in the world....that's what I miss......."

"And so you seniors that are focused on college, you're focused on your work after high school...what you're gonna do next.....you are focused on tomorrow, aren't you?"

"You've got plenty of time for tomorrow......but these tonights...they're going by fast, you focus on tonight.. This is about you guys.....this is about the guys in this room that care about each other....that know, there are only so many more of these nights left, it's about you...."

"They are a faceless opponent, they just happened to draw the short straw tonight....now get your asses ready to play, win on three...one..two..three PLAY!"

Coach Payton's speech may have inspired his team just enough, Naperville Central trailed 17-0 at halftime against rival high school Neuqua Valley, yet rallied after half time for a 21-17 win.

~ Southern girls are God's gift to the entire male population. there is absolutely no woman finer than one raised below the mason-dixon line and once you go southern may the good Lord help you - you never go back.    ~Kenny Chesney

Great hub, and it inspired me to share a quote of my own...

"Money is merely the means of being able to afford all those things that keep me broke."

I said that.

Very enjoyable Hub,

Music touches us in so many ways, how often do we hear a song on television or the radio that immediately triggers "Instant Recall" of a past event or experience.

Such an important medium.

I hope that everyone enjoys reading this hub as much as I did making it, especially about the 80s generation. It brought back a lot of memories of growing up in the 80s. The parents were right, those were the times of our lives. LOL. Although my time limits my comment feedback, I TRULY appreciate all comments and readers!
