Family Fun for Everyone
Located on the Eastern side of Bogue Banks, along North Carolina's Crystal Coast, is Atlantic Beach. Atlantic Beach has plenty of shopping, boating, fishing, nightlife, dining, and a variety of activities for everyone in the family from small children to seniors.
Beaufort and Fort Macon are two historic sites located in Atlantic Beach with a lot of civil war history. Both places are worth visiting when in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The Crystal Coast is great for fishermen with excellent pier fishing, and deep-sea fishing from chartered boats.
Historic Beaufort
Beaufort is an old quaint town that sits along the waterfront. Up and down the boardwalk listen to the singing of a local vocalist at an outdoor pub. When strolling past the old country themed wooden buildings along Main Street be sure to stop in the old timey ice cream shop on the corner for some homemade ice cream.
Main Street is not the only main attraction, check out The Beaufort Historic District is an old town with beautiful 18th and 19th century homes that have been restored to their original beauty. Under the shade of live oak trees soldiers have been laid to rest, fatalities from the American Revolution and Civil War. Also located in this historic town is Hammock House. Blackbeard the Pirate stayed there frequently, let it is legend that Hammock House is still home to the ghosts of some of his victims.

Attractions and Accommodations
Cape Lookout National Seashore with the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, is also home to wild horses that are descendants of horses brought there over five hundred years ago. They can be seen grazing on the islands around Beaufort.
Fort Macon State Park looks much the same as when it was built gives a look back in time at our Civil War history. Fort Macon is listed as a National Historic Site, and is the fort where General Robert E. Lee was once stationed. The museum has a variety of audio-visual displays about the history of Fort Macon.
Atlantic Beach has many attractions for all ages including the popular touch tank with some up-close marine life at Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium. The aquarium sits along the Bogue Sound, which is a nice bird watching area from the overlooks. For the more adventurous vacationer, Atlantic Beach is the place to be for scuba diving, surfing, or kayaking, just be aware of the strong under-tow along this North Carolina coastline.
Atlantic Beach, Morehead City, and Beaufort all have many fine choices in accommodations. One personally familiar resort is Peppertree Resort Villas which is a family-oriented resort with condos available for rent, usually taking reservations for weekly stays with a Saturday check-in. Daily linen service is available in all units.
Some other amenities Peppertree has to offer includes: two outdoor pools, two indoor pools, a tennis court, and an in-ground hot tub that holds up to 15-20 people, outdoor grills, swings, and ping-pong tables, as well as a small arcade next to a general store. There are numerous games and activities for everyone, and a short walk along the resorts boardwalk takes you to a private section of Atlantic Beach reserved for guests of Peppertree.
Atlantic Beach is just one of the beautiful coastal sections of the North Carolina coastline. There are many family oriented properties that are available at reasonable rates. Check online for specific dates and prices.
